I have really been inspired by clouds recently, especially after seeing this clip from the movie Science of Sleep and from looking at this dreamy picture that was posted on Cup of Jo. So, my sister and I decided to experiment with raw sheep's wool and came up with these felted beauties inspired by the creations on wikstenmade. Here's to a day showered with creativity.

I Get a Kick Out of You.

Apparently I am now obsessed with shoes because I never post about two of the same things in a row. But, alas, I have become tired of my gingerbread looking Toms, so I have decided to mix it up. I repainted them outside today in this gorgeous spring break weather while listening to the latest of Zooey and Matt. I used the same concept of the trompe l'oeil loafer, but have gone in another direction. Now my Toms look cool and summery and I can wear them without Hansel and Gretel trying to eat them.

Royal Flush: Mary Buck Crowns.

First a note of thanks.-Mary darling, thank you for hours of inspiration. Your creations were my thought launching pad for many parties and
also helped me to create my own crowns, just because.- My first encounter with this artist's delectably lavish crowns was in an ad for Vera Wang Princess Perfume. The lovely Camilla Bell wore the signature Lavender Label dresses and hung from trees with chandeliers and shirtless boys. The scene stealers though were these terrific crowns that were so intricately made that they looked fit for a fairyland. For months, and yes I mean months, I was captivated by this ad. I loved going to the website and looking at other photos from the shoot; I even bought the perfume to applaud their marketing strategy. I finally discovered the creator of the crowns a few months later and her name is Mary Buck. I looked at the pictures in her gallery a million times and decided I would attempt my own version of royalty. Let me tell you, it was not easy. Many an hour I spent on this one metalwork headpiece I nearly drove myself mad.
It took quite a long time to make, but the result was ravishing! This project helped me realize art is not confined to a paint and canvas, but can be worn and enjoyed!

ThomThom directs the highway of menswear.

I really love a label that incorporates the timeless and the ridiculous, but seems to pull the two together to form the effortlessly cool. That is what Thom Browne does. He has held 4 very distinct, striking runway shows in the past 2 years and has stirred up innovation in menswear. His unconventional style choices have made me want to experiment in the androgynous side of fashion which I had never thought to do before. Like roll my pants above my ankles and paint my toms to look like loafers. It has also caused me to look back on other shows from the past that exude that same look of "poor little rich boy". Dsquared^2 did a show in fall 2006 for example that incorporated similar elements of a classic gentleman (or lady) with a modern twist. Mr. Browne, thank you so much for all the insight and for helping me officially become a thom-girl.
